I was surprised to see that the Japanese resto carried a few bottles of wine on their menu. We had a bottle of the Sauv Blanc of Finca delos Andes which comes from Argentina. Found the wine a bit dry and lacks the fruity flavors of a Sauv Blanc.

To start we had the Tofu Fries. The tofu fries looked more like a log, it was really thick and huge. It wasn't a big issue for me since I know how hard it is to keep the shape of tofu when you sliced it in smaller pieces and cook it. I just wished they added more breading on the tofu, it lacked the crunchiness that I was looking for.

The Soft Shell Crab Salad with Buttermilk Dressing was such a treat. We were lucky enough that they have soft shell crab in stock, if its isn't available the crab would be replaced with prawns. The salad consists of greens, tomatoes, cucumber and soft shell crab tempura. All of the veggies tasted fresh and the one thing that caught my attention was the soft shell crab tempura. The crab tasted so fresh, it was lightly coated with tempura batter and it was wonderfully crunchy.

We enjoyed the soft shell crab so much that we asked if we could have an all soft shell crab tempura instead of the assorted Nomama Seafood Tempura platter. When the server returned and gave a thumbs up sign, we cheered in delight. This time around the soft shell crab are way much bigger compared to the crab in the salad. It was so good, we savored every crunch tasty bite. The Tentsuyu or tempura dipping sauce is also something worth mentioning, it had that umami taste and feel to it.

For our main, we had the Almond Crusted Lapu-Lapu, Miso Brown Vinaigrette and Roasted Cherry Tomatoes. The dish was executed really well, the skin of the fish had crushed almonds thus instilling a lovely crunch. The flesh was moist and tender though I hoped that they served a thicker slice of the lapu-lapu. The dish is pretty simple, not mind blowing but something I wouldn't mind ordering and having again.

As I've mentioned, Nomama is known for serving artisanal ramen. Though I didn't get to order and try their ramen, the dishes I tasted made me want to go back and try out more. Next time around, I'll make sure that I'll have enough space for a bowl of ramen.
